Our mission is to to increase understanding harmony and cultural exchange between the people of the United States of America and those of other Pacific cultures. Our initial focus is the study and promotion of Japanese arts and culture especially Cha no yu (the Tea Ceremony) and Chado (The Way of Tea). Horai’s mission is guided by the Four Principles of Tea: Wa (harmony) Kei (respect) Sei (purity) and Jaku (tranquillity).

Lost Eureka

Lost Eureka is a multiyear, multimedia project centered around the years 1885 to 1924 focused on the events in Eureka, California and the surrounding communities.  The projected work for the year 2020 is the release of a fantastic two sentence story each day of the year accompanied by newspaper articles from the year 1889. One story per week will be accompanied by artwork inspired by the story.
