Mission:
We are committed to enhancing the quality of life for Black and Brown bodies, with the mission of empowering the youth through Black cultural knowledge and Black support to promote Cultural Healing, Black Community Resilience and Black Sovereignty Rights.
We resonate with the Indigenous People of Color and the shared struggles from the white dominant culture. Through the Harambee movement (and the collaboration of People of Color) we gain resiliency, respect, self-love, and self-determination.

Purpose:
The purpose of HCBMAA is to cultivate a safe nurturing space for Youth and Families of Color in Humboldt County and increase cultural identity to our youth through workshops, restorative circles, cultural practices, and community outreach. We promote community resilience and sustainability through Black education and Afrocentric practices. Together, we foster a broader understanding of the contributions of persons of African descent in all fields of music, drumming, storytelling, and cultural arts. We believe in advocating and educating our youth with Black knowledge to promote health and wellness.
