Description:
Convivial Research Methodology is a collective investigative approach that refuses to objectify communities of struggle. For 21 years; local students, faculty, staff and grassroots scholars have been using Convivial Research Methods, adapted from popular education tools of the Global South.

In an atmosphere of “conviviality” we adhere to Basic Agreements. Using shared facilitation we analyze social justice issues through the Objects of Study, Relations of Forces, Contradiction’s and Timelines. Our Social Justice issues have included; Sovereign Native Media, Discrimination in Civil Society, Sustainable Agriculture, Governmentality of Immigration, Settler Colonialism in Karuk Territory and Worker Communities.

Working in groups you will choose a significant issue impacting you and your community. Through shared analysis you will learn skills on how to produce new knowledge that makes a difference in today’s world.
