MISSION

A Humboldt county based production company that curates events & spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community & allies

VISION

To create a space where those who are marginalized in diverse, different, and assorted ways have a place where they can be supported without judgment. Our main focus is providing a community for the Queer Population of Humboldt county.

GOALS

QTBIPOC representation in Humboldt

Body positivity

Community building for Humboldt LGBTQIA+ members

SAFER SPACE ETHOS + ACCESSIBILITY

We wish to create a space where everyone can feel free from various forms of oppression faced on a daily basis. This includes, but is not limited to: racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, ageism, ableism, violence and and judgmental fundamentalism and thus will not be tolerated at any VIBE party. All restrooms in our venue are gender neutral. Strobe lights, fake blood & fog machines may be used during the event or performances. We attempt to find venues that are ADA accessible, but cannot guarantee that at every show. If you or anyone you know may appreciate assistance navigating our space, please let us know.

About Us:

VIBE Productions is a Dream Maker project of the Ink People Arts & Culture non-profit. We curate events specifically for the queer community of Humboldt county & beyond. We host monthly drag shows and have curated specialty events for the broader queer community. We are a small organization made up of a handful of passionate individuals whose main goal is queer visibility and safer spaces in our area. We are a multicultural and multilingual group of individuals who all possess an array of skills and capacities. For all of us, this is a passion project that is done in our spare time outside of our day jobs. Currently we rely on ticket sales to produce our events including but not limited to: performer fees, DJs, photography, advertisement, supplies, and staff stipends. We rely on volunteers, our incredible performers and AMAZING guests to put on these outstanding shows.

Our Staff:

Jorge Luis Mendoza (Stage Manager)

Casandra Kelly (Production Manager)

Valerie Rose-Campbell (Volunteer Coordinator)

Wren Jones (Graphic Designer)

Makayla Kuhnke (Photographer)

Dacin White (Resident Deejay)

Our Drag Shows:

Our Drag Shows are held at our home venue Septentrio Winery (650 6th Street, Arcata). Shows run for 2 hours with a 20 minute intermission, composed of 10 acts. Each year we work with upwards of 30 performers, over 50 volunteers and 10-15 vendors.

Shows are mainly held outdoors with the occasional indoor events at Septentrio's sister location The Barrel Room (955 I Street, Arcata). You can expect around 200 people per show with performances meandering through the crowd. Tipping is encouraged and audience participation is sometimes requested!

Our Collaborations:

We encourage and actively engage in community connections and collaborations. This past year (2023) we worked Phatsy Klines & the Eagle House to bring a brilliant drag show to Eureka. We collaborated with KMUD to put on the first ever Southern Humboldt Pride. We worked with CalPoly to bring students Lumberhunk! A drag show. And we collaborated with Trinidaddies (Local Queer Dance Party) and Eureka Night Market to put on RIOT! A Pride is Not Over Pride Party.

We are so excited for our 2024 collaborations and can't wait to share with you all that we have in store. If you are interested in collaborating and or having our queens perform at your next event please email info@vibequeerbar.com

Community Events:

We are continually expanding and growing as a small non-profit and hope to bring more queer community events to you! More to come...

If you have any questions, concerns or issues please feel free to reach out to us info@vibequeerbar.com and be patient in getting a response.
